Blood Pressure Checks

Are you over 40 and have not been diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure)? Then the NHS Community Pharmacy Blood Pressure Check Service is for you!

Our free service is designed to identify people who are at risk of developing cardiovascular disease and refer those with suspected hypertension for appropriate management.

During your appointment at your local community pharmacy, our expert pharmacists will measure your blood pressure and provide immediate feedback on your readings. If your blood pressure is high, we'll offer you 24-hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring (ABPM) to get a more accurate picture of your blood pressure throughout the day and night.

24-hour ABPM is a simple and painless process that involves wearing a small blood pressure monitor, which is attached to a belt around your waist and connected to a cuff around your arm. The monitor will take regular blood pressure readings over a 24-hour period, allowing our pharmacists to get a more accurate picture of your blood pressure patterns and diagnose hypertension if necessary.

If we do detect high blood pressure during your appointment or ABPM, we'll refer you to your GP for further evaluation and treatment. By detecting high blood pressure early, we can help you take control of your health and reduce your risk of developing cardiovascular disease, the second most common cause of premature death in England.

And with our convenient online booking system, it's easier than ever to schedule your appointment at a time that suits you. Don't wait until it's too late - book your free appointment today and take the first step towards a healthier, happier you!
